By Car

From the M3, follow signs for Southampton A33 (not Southampton Docks). Follow the A33 (Bassett Ave.) through two roundabouts to a major intersection (with the University's Biomedical Sciences building to your left). Turn left onto Burgess Road then take the first right onto University Road.

From the M27, take Junction 5 (Southampton Airport/Eastleigh). If you are approaching from the east, take the 1st exit off the roundabout. If approaching from the west, take the 4th exit. Follow the A335 dual carriageway through two sets of traffic lights. At the third set of lights, the road divides. Turn right onto Burgess Road (McDonald's will be on your left). University Road is about 3/4 of a mile ahead on your left. A large sign for the University can be seen on the left just before the turning.

Please note, parking can be very difficult during term time. We do have a Pay and Display car park (shown on the Campus map), and there is a two-hour free public parking scheme on the streets surrounding the Campus. Blue badge holders with mobility difficulties may pre-organise parking on campus by contacting Disability Services on 023 80 597726. Parking is widely available in Southampton city centre, and catching a bus to all our campuses is easy.

By Rail

Fast services from London (Waterloo Station) and Bournemouth/Weymouth serve both Southampton Central and Southampton International Airport (Parkway), which is marginally closer to the Highfield Campus. Local services and stopping trains from London and Bournemouth/Weymouth also serve Swaythling Station.

When alighting at Southampton International Airport (Parkway), taxi services are to be found in front of the station waiting room (Platform 1) and fares cost around £6. Half-hourly services run by Uni-link Buses (U1) also leave from there for the Highfield Campus.

When alighting at Southampton Central, head for Platform 4, and the exit marked Uni-link Buses. The U1 leaves every half-hour from outside to Highfield Campus. Taxi ranks are outside both Platform 1 and Platform 4 station exits and a fare to Highfield Campus costs around £6.

By Ferry

From the Town Quay, you can pick up the U1 and U6 Uni-link bus services direct to Highfield Campus.

By Air

Southampton Airport provides a range of domestic and continental services. Follow the Exit on the airport side of the station where you'll find a taxi rank, plus the U1 Uni-link bus service (every 30 minutes) direct to Highfield Campus.

By Bus

Uni-link provides an interconnecting bus service between all University campuses, the city centre (Civic Hall and Marlands shopping centre) and public public transport services (rail, air and ferry). The Uni-link flat fare is £1.50 single or £2.50 for an all-day travel ticket. Please see our Uni-link pages for full details.

By Bike

Locked storage facilities for cycle users are available for visitors to the Highfield and Avenue Campuses as well as most Halls of Residence. Details are available from Uni-link .
