The University of Southampton

On graduation the vast majority of our students take up positions that are directly related to their degree programmes – as software engineers or developers, electronics and electrical engineers, or as consultants working on IT systems, in technology or product development or design. Their career progress will often take them in other directions, often into management roles as engineering team leaders, or project managers, or as senior consultants.

Our graduates are working in all the world’s leading technology companies, as well as holding important roles throughout the industries and businesses that rely on leading-edge technology, such as banks and finance, online retailing and entertainment, communications and media, power supply and alternative energy, and manufacturing.

As undergraduates, our students typically gain relevant and valuable experience as summer interns working with our affiliated companies and other local and national organizations which are keen to employ them over the summer months. Many of our students return to their final year of study with graduate job offers from the company that hosted their summer internship!
