I have been interested in managing data and knowledge in various domains using technologies such as the semantic web, database and web services.
In Geodise, we carried out knowledge management work for engineering design search and optimisation, delivering methodologies, development and integration of novel technologies in the context of engineering problem solving environment, e.g., Matlab.
In Elegi, Service Oriented Architecture has been investigated for the deployment of the semantic web serivces to support a paradigm shift to a the learner-centered approach, where collaberative learning happened in a semantic grid enviorment. We also proposed a concept call knowledge lifecycle on which formal knowledge managment tasks can be carried out.
With more spatial-related features in ocean science data in oceanography, I am now more interested in geospatial data managment. I am also interested how pure theory and technologies in computer science, particularly those researched in ECS, can be applied to the marine science to facilitate collaberation and reuse of oceanography resources.
