Gerry Scott

Most of my career has been spent in the semiconductor industry in a range of roles including digital design engineer, project manager, design group manager, analogue design. My main focus was on the design of systems on chip for use in consumer applications. Initially digital audio systems (CD servos and decoders, including embedded ARM7 micros fror system control and compressed audio decoding), DVD codecs (including MIPS cores) and digital TV. I worked in and managed large cross-country project teams.

I also worked for 5 years for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), mainly as a commercialisation manager responsible for technology transfer, licensing, etc. Hence I have knowledge and experience of Intellectual Property issues, licensing, negotiation, etc. I have experience of various project management methodologies and am a PRINCE2 practitioner.

I now work on the PRiME research project as impact and collaboration manager. Although based in Southampton, I work with all 4 partner universities on the programme (Imperial, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton).
