Dr. Harold M H Chong

I was born in Brunei and received my B.Eng (twinned programme with Universiti Brunei Darussalam), MSc. and PhD from University of Glasgow, Scotland. After receiving my bachelor, I worked as a telecommunication engineer in the Department of Telecommunication under the Ministry of Communications of Brunei. In 1998, I returned to Glasgow for my MSc and PhD research in RF and photonic technology, especially in the field of photonic integrated circuits and photonic crystal structures. My post-doctorate experience includes fabrication of monolithic microwave integrated circuits, planar RF devices and semiconductor laser devices. 

I joined the Nano Research group as lecturer in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton in October 2007. My current research interests are investigation of photonic nanowire devices and photonic crystal structures as the building blocks for nanophotonic integrated circuits. I am also interested in nanofabrication technology and using top-down and bottom-up fabrication approach to realise nanoscale devices.
