Simone Cortese

Postgraduate research student

Mr Simone is a Solid State Physicist, currently a PhD student within the Nano Research Group of Electronics and Computer Science School at University of Southampton. He received his MSc (2014) in Solid State Physics at University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) in which he focused in particular on Semiconductor Physics and devices. His thesis on the electrical characterization of Memristive Devices based on Transition Metal Oxides was carried out in the Italian National Research Council (CNR) Laboratory IMM-MDM in Agrate Brianza and, as a visiting student, in the University of Southampton. 

Beforehand, he got his BSc (2012) in Physics at University of Milano-Bicocca working on the electrical characterization of Aluminum-Gallium Arsenide matrices for applications in intermediate band solar cells.

The goal of his PhD is to find a solution for the leakage current problem in memristor crossbar arrays.
