Description
Aims
- To introduce students to engineering drawing using both 2D & 3D Computer Aided Design software.
- To give an appreciation of the potential of CAD.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding
Having successfully completed the module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
- use both 2D & 3D industrial CAD software
- have an appreciation of CAD/CAM.
- know the basics of engineering drawing and sketching
- have some basic knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
Topics Covered
- Hand sketching
- oIntroduce basic engineering orthographic hand sketching to BSi 8888
- Introduction to CAD
- Hands-on use of AutoCAD and Pro/DESKTOP CAD package. Learn to read drawings, and to produce designs using a combination of 2D and 3D software. The drawing assignments test the students understanding of drawing and CAD.
- Introduce CAD/CAM
- Seminar on manufacturing techniques.
