The computing Laboratory for ECS undergraduates is zoned into five areas J-N.

Computer monitors
Zone J: Coding Corner

This area contains 24 desks kitted out with the following:

  • 2 x Dell U2715H 27” QHD Monitor (2560 x 1440 resolution)
  • 1 x high spec PC (Core i7 4-core CPU, 16GB RAM, GTX650ti graphics)
Zone K: Self Study

This area is for students to connect their own laptop to a large screen and keyboard/mouse. The area contains 20 dedicated spaces with:

  • 1 x Dell U2715H 27” QHD Monitor (2560 x 1440 resolution)
  • 1 x Keyboard/Mouse
Zone L:

This area contains a mixture of PC hardware. There are around 40 desks in total:

  • 10 very high spec PCs (Xeon 6-core CPU, 32GB RAM, GTX980 graphics) with 40" 4K Samsung display monitors (3840x2160 resolution)
  • 20 high spec PCs (Core i7 4-core CPU, 16GB RAM, GTX650ti graphics) with monitors

10 iMacs with Retina 5k display

Zone M:

A general purpose area containing 21 desks:
Each desk has:

  • 1 x Dell U3415W 34” WQHD Curved Monitor (3440 x 1440 resolution)
  • 1 x high spec PC (Core i7 4-core CPU, 16GB RAM, GTX650ti graphics)
Zone N: Teaching Space

This area can be booked for teaching. It will contain 26 desks which accommodate pair programming with two seats. Each desk will contain:

  • 2 x Dell U2715H 27” QHD Monitor (2560 x 1440 resolution)
  • 1 x high spec PC (Core i7 4-core CPU, 16GB RAM, GTX650ti graphics)
