Opportunities for Graduates in Audit, Tax and Consultancy

At KPMG we recognise our future depends on nurturing great individual talent and providing an environment where people can flourish personally and professionally. There are over 10,000 people working at KPMG in the UK. Although we share a common set of values across the business, each individual brings their own set of experiences, aspirations and skills.

As one of the largest graduate employers in the UK we are proud to offer a wide variety of graduate entry routes across three different business areas – Audit, Tax and Consultancy – in 22 offices across the UK.

What’s more, our firm is growing. Since a number of European firms merged to form KPMG Europe LLP, we’ve become the largest fully-integrated accountancy firm in Europe, offering Audit, Tax and Consultancy services to everyone from oil companies to music gurus. But it’s not just what we do that’s important. It’s the way that we do it. That’s why our values are more than just a list of words. They’re a way of life here, underpinning the way we work with clients and with each other.

We think KPMG is a great place to start your career – and we’re sure you will too.

Consultancy

KPMG's Consultancy practice is one of the largest advisory practices in the world and the major growth area for our organisation. We work alongside some of the world’s foremost organisations and our success stems from our ability to respond to a wide variety of critical business issues across a broad range of market sectors.

We combine specialist skills around the world to provide objective advice and execution, and to help create and preserve value. By doing so, we’ve set ourselves apart from advisors with a generalist approach and we’re continuously gaining market share. KPMG in the UK’s Advisory practice has the following main service groups:

  • Performance and Technology, Risk and Compliance and Transactions and Restructuring

Audit

At KPMG, we see an audit as an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of our clients’ business processes and objectives, in order to help them develop and thrive in changing markets.  It’s not just about financial statements – we help our clients to improve their business as well.

Working in Audit is a great start for a business career. Audit will stretch your analytical ability, and help you build a thorough understanding of different client businesses.

Our Audit Programme offers Graduates a range of different opportunities across different business areas. Graduates joining our Audit Programme or Public Sector Audit Programme can expect to study for one of the several professional qualifications we offer, all of which are very highly valued in the industry.

Tax

Want a career that involves working closely with a range of important clients – developing a deep understanding of their commercial issues, while finding approaches that make a real difference to their bottom line? If so, then Tax can give you opportunities to develop valuable technical skills and genuine commercial insight. You’ll often be tackling challenges that are at the heart of client organisations, enjoying the opportunity to grow your commercial understanding, while also developing specialist technical skills and studying for valuable professional qualifications.

KPMG’s Tax practice is an excellent starting point for a successful business career whether it is in company-focused services (such as Corporate Tax and Indirect Tax) or people-focused services (such as Private Client Advice, International Executive Services and Pensions).

KPMG has our own dedicated Tax Business School®. Graduates joining the Tax Programme will take their training with the Tax Business School®. The school conducts research and also supports the ongoing development of our tax professionals. As a graduate, your very first experience will be an intensive programme that’s designed to bring you up to speed with the core skills and knowledge you’ll need to start working in the fast-moving tax arena.

How to apply

KPMG recruit on a ‘rolling’ basis. This means that we do not have a deadline for applications and all applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. The only exception to this is for applicants requiring a work permit.

The deadline for applicants for 2012 entry needing a work permit is Monday 30th April 2012. This is due to the time it takes to apply for a work permit if your application for a KPMG graduate role is successful.

We are now taking applications for our Graduate programmes to start in autumn 2012.
