Personal homepage

I am working as an Online repository amanger and researcher as the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM), which is a training and capacity building organization, based in the School of Social Sciences. I am generally involved in web development, building search applications, archiving obsolete websites, researching ontology mapping, semantic indexing using LoD. As a researcher, I am currently working on a crowd-annotation study which has to do with annotation and tagging of websites by social sceince researchers using custom-built annotation/tagging tools to ascertain if relevance in search results could be improved.

Research interests

I am particularly interested in semantic search, domain-specific online searching, use of vocabulary, typology and thesaurus for annotating/tagging content in websites. As part of my PhD studies, I aim to investigate how could we add semantic metadata as well as crowd-sourced annotations to a huge amount of hetrogenously archived web pages in order to improve relevance in search results. I am also interested to investigate how ebst could we measure users searching experience in various situations using a typical Google-style online search application.

I am a part time PhD student in the WAIS group and working full time as an Online repository manager at the School of Social Sciences.  In my current role, my duties include web development, websites arhiving, structuring content for semantic indexing and maintianing an active search engine for domain specific search results retrieval on different websites. On another front, I liaise with ESRC funded web resource authors to develop besloke web resoruce templates for them and organise training and capacity building events such as online webinars and face to face workshops to enable them disseminate their research outputs using various web platforms and applications. I have also been working on the management of copyright in websites, migrating, licensing website content from standalone domains to our web repositories e.g. and  In addition to that, I along with the team, occasionally publish guidance materials aimed at web authors having backghround in social sciences, geography, statistics, economics etc. The liason with the researchers in return help us understand their requriements for developing and deploying bespoke web applications and websites.

As a postgrad. student, I am interested in investigating semantic web technologies, linked data and crowd sourcing techniques to generate semantic metadata and annotation and feed it back to a domain-specific search engine for highly relevant search results.
