About

C. H. (Kees) de Groot is Professor of Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology in Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at Southampton. His research focus is the integration of nanotechnology with silicon electronics. His main interest is the integration of novel nanomaterials and devices with silicon electronics processing with particular emphasis on the semiconducting properties of oxides, chalcogenides, and carbides. His recent breakthroughs in these areas includes the first 100 nm GeSbTe phase change memory by (non-aqueous) electrodeposition, SiC resistive memory with a record 9 orders of magnitude on/off ratio and neuromorphic properties, selective growth by chemical vapour deposition of thermo-electric materials Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3, the fabrication of transistors based on electro-deposited 2D materials such as MoS2, and room temperature operation of smart radiative cooling films based on W-doped VO2 with strong emissivity contrast.
