I graduated from the Bachelor of Engineering at the China University of Petroleum in July 2009 in Qingdao. I came to University of Southampton from August of 2009, major in Software Engineering. My master's dissertation was about gathering qualitative data in terms of computer science education. Now I am studying for a PhD degree in STEM project under the supervision of Dr. Su A White. Currently, I'm researching on understanding how our 1st year undergraduate students learning to program in this connected world when introduced to program at univerisities. The work addresses the question of identifying learning strategies employed by first-year undergraduate computing students when they first learn to program. A key aspect of this study is to examine the impact on learning when there is a wide availability of online digital resources. Also, I intend to report on and publish to outcomes of my research to the wider STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) educational community. In this way, the work which I am doing is very relevant to the focus of activities in CITE (
