Senta Jantzen

Senta Jantzen holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. She collaborated with Porsche for her Bacherlor’s project, with the Silicon Photonics group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) in Southampton for her Master’s project and has worked for Bosch, Siemens and Mercedes.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Optoelectronics, working together with Parker Aerospace and the Optical Engineering and Quantum Photonics group at the ORC. Her research focuses on developing optical sensors for aerospace based on planar and fibre Bragg gratings. Her PhD is funded by Parker Aerospace in Bristol and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) under the supervision of Peter G. R. Smith, Christopher Holmes, Lewis J. Boyd and Mohammed El-Hajjar.

Senta is also a student editor of the IEEE Photonics Society Newsletter, the manager of the Electronics and Computer Science MSc Mentor Program in Southampton and she is a very engaged optics outreach champion.
