“Use of the web has had a major impact on humanity – the ability to share and communicate such a vast range of information so rapidly has unprecedented consequences – from emergency relief aid in natural disasters, to facilitating political change. For me, one of the most exciting aspects of the BSc Web Science course is that it’s constantly changing to match the latest developments in technology - it’s a great opportunity to analyse society and technology as they change before us.

“I’m really impressed with the facilities at Southampton. The students have access to state-of–the art computing labs which makes coursework so much easier to do! We also have a dedicated library for Web Science students, which holds some fascinating texts.

“During my time at Southampton I have been able to use my Web Science skills to become a member of Digital Champions, helping promote digital literacy though the University. I gained some valuable skills designing online courses for modules and I also had the opportunity to attend a conference in Canada on Student Engagement and peer facilitated learning.
