Professor Teck Seng Low
Professor Teck Seng Low graduated from the University of Southampton in 1978 with a First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, before completing his PhD in 1982. He went on to set up the Magnetics Technology Centre at the National University of Singapore – the world’s foremost research centre in data storage technologies.
In 1998 he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and in 2002 was the founding Principal of Singapore’s fifth university - the Republic Polytechnic. He has also held the roles of Chief Executive Officer of Parkway Education, a subsidiary of Parkway Health Group, and Deputy Manager Director (Research) of A*STAR.
Professor Low was awarded the National Science and Technology Medal in 2004 and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) by the President of Singapore in 2007. He was also conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science by the University of Southampton in 2009 in recognition for his contributions to Singapore and his profession internationally.
