Silicon is a natural crystal, so may have defects and some chips won’t work. One of things you have to do is use this probe station to connect wires to your chip, to see if it does what it was supposed to do, and see across the entire chip what your yield was, how many of those chips worked. Because there are about 60 or 70 pins on this chip, and 16 different teams have their design on there, there may only be 4 or 5 pins available for your team to test each design.
