The long term objective of AgentLink II is to put Europe at the leading edge of international competitiveness in the area of agent-based computing. The medium term goals of AgentLink II are:

  • to gain competitive advantage for European industry by promoting and raising awareness of agent systems technology;
  • to facilitate improvement in the standard, profile, and industrial relevance of European research in the area of agent-based computer systems;
  • to promote excellence of teaching and training in the area of agent-based systems;
  • to provide a widely known, high quality European forum in which current issues, problems, and solutions in the research and development of agent-based computer systems may be debated and resolved.

The ACOHIR (Accurate Colour High Resolution) project will work on recording and reproduction of three-dimensional objects for electronic publishing and the consumer market. A 3D scanner system and software similarto QuickTime-VR for viewing 3D objects. There will be a commercial product and demonstrations of the technology. The National Gallery, The Louvre and several museums in Greece are among the partners.

6INIT was a pan-European IPv6 deployment project featuring 12 European partners and five IPv6 clusters. It was the first EU project that focused on IPv6 technology. The project ran from January 2000 through to April 2001, and was successful in gaining early deployment experience of international and local IPv6 networks.

The research objectives are as follows:

  • Development of a complete 3D static and dynamic model of three-fingered fully adaptive end effector.
  • Based on the model and knowledge of the user environment, providing the design and implementation of a useful coordination and control strategy.
  • Demonstrate the model, coordination strategy and the control with hardware. This will be undertaken with a realistic range of test objects.
